Two weeks in Paris

Two weeks in Paris

In late October to early November 2017, I spent two weeks in Paris.

Happy?  Absolutely!!!!   A fabulous two weeks with two beautiful girlfriends, spending our days soaking up Paris fashion, art, food, museums, markets and theatre.  We walked, we talked, we ate, we saw and best of all we laughed. Oh how we laughed!   It was a very special time.  I was in heaven – walking around Paris, taking in the atmosphere, camera in hand, photographing every day.  I followed my heart to walk round corners, up long windy streets, through open doors, taking me to new places every bit as breathtaking as the last.  Needless to say, I fell in love with Paris all over again.

Paris is a stunningly beautiful city with a wonderful mix of romance, art, modernity, history, eccentricity and style – all intertwined in a very French way.  It is said that you can’t describe Paris, you have to live Paris.  I couldn’t agree more.

There are so many things to love about Paris – the incredible architecture, the simplicity of colour in her street scapes, the food (and oh my god the bread), vintage fashion, the amazing markets, old world shop fronts, the bohemian culture, the landscape and so much more.  As a lover of photography, being in the birthplace of photography was pretty special.   The apartment we stayed in was quintessentially French – French doors leading onto a balcony overlooking another stunning building; and for two weeks, we felt like it was ours and we were living in Paris.

I took so many photos on our trip, below are a few that tell the story of why I fell in love with Paris all over again – for her beauty, her character, her sense of fun and her capacity to enthral and envelop you with love into her arms.  I know so many of you also love Paris and I hope you enjoy these photos.

Three of my favourite places during this visit

Fave museum – Musée Jacquemart-André:  a private museum located in the 8th.  The museum was created from the private home of couple Édouard André and Nélie Jacquemart to display the art they collected during their lives.  It was like the Louvre – only on a smaller (and more digestible) scale, but so impressive.  If you go, make reservations for lunch in the cafe.

Fave restaurantLe Train Bleu is a restaurant located in the hall of the Gare de Lyon railway station.  Gildings, sculptures, mouldings, chandeliers and frescoes cover the restaurant walls, so it is absolutely stunning.  And the food is pretty incredible too!

Fave experience – From High End to Vintage is where effortlessly stylish Stephanie (who started her professional life working for Hermès and Gucci), takes you on an insider’s view of the best of the Paris fashion scene from vintage to current new young cutting edge designers.  So much fun walking about Le Marais with someone whose knowledge of fashion was impressive.

My other fave experience was doing a portrait shoot in Paris – such an amazing day.  Click here to see photos from the shoot in ‘Portrait of a Dancer in Paris Part I‘.

Hope you enjoy these photos and that they remind you of your last trip to Paris or give you inspiration to put Paris on your travel list.

With love

Kris xx
